Should you propel yourself through the water whilst doing breaststroke?

when you kick should you assume the pray position and propel yourself through the water then move your arms to raise your head above the water to get a breath of air? Im just learning and do not do this, instead i just continously keep moving my arms if that maks sense? Surely once you propel yourself through the water the pressure from having your head under will make it difficult on the lungs? regards|||While you're doing the frog kick, you should be bringing your arms out from the pray position to either side AND coming up for your breath of air, and that combined action will propel you forward. When that's complete, your head will go back down in the water, your legs will be relaxed, and your arms will return to the pray position. Good luck with your swimming.
