Muscle used in swimming the breaststroke?

What muscle do you use when you do the frog kick for breast stroke and bring your legs together? I've heard many different answers. I've heard hip flexors, glutes, inner thighs, all kinds of different answers. So can somebody tell me for a fact which muscle is used to pull your legs together in breast stroke? and if it is your inner thigh which muscle exactly is that? Thanks!|||The whip kick consists of two parts the lift and thrust during the lift you use your calves and during the thrust you use your hamstrings(inner thighs)|||For breaststroke, you're primarily working with your adductor and abductor muscles (thigh muscles) and calf muscles. To build strength in those muscles, there are machines in the weight room/gym that you can use.
