What are some helpful hints to swimming breaststroke?

I have a meet and I am not usually very good at breaststroke|||your kick is very important in breastroke. sense i assume you already know somewhat how to do this i wont go into details but its very important to finish your kick all the way (make sure your feet touch) then pull with your arms, this creates the less drag resulting in the fastest swim. Dont rush through it, breaststroke is less of a muscle stroke and more of a technique stroke, make sure you glide. the only part you want to rush is after your pull when you shoot your arms foreward. also dont look up when you come up to breath keep your face tilted downward. good luck and dont be mad if you dont improve quickly, i beleive breaststroke is probably the hardest stroke as i beleive it requires the most technique and experience to perfect.|||everyones right you need to make sure you have a strong kick in breaststroke and you need to touch with two hands at every wall

be sure after each stroke to lunge and reach... if you reach far then that can definitely help you decrease the amount of strokes you need

also when you breathe try not to stop..you wanr it to be focused on going forward and the problem with a lot of non breaststrokers is they come up to breathe and their body kinda stops at the top and then they go back down to take another stroke|||Have a strong kick and pull, the stronger the further you go.

Don't rush it though, you have to let it glide a little.

Touch the end of the pool (if you're swimming in a 25m pool) with both hands before you turn back.

Dont pull past the shoulders or else you will disqualify :(

and have fun! being your best is different than being the best.|||I agree with all the answers you have. Breaststroke is more like a "leg stroke", you mainly use your legs to move, so having strong kicks could really help. Glide is another thing, if you dont glide you are basically wasting your energies, but try not to glide too long that you'll end up in last place. Fast pull, and quick pull out. Hope that help.|||Kick strongly to give you more power and speed. Also remember to glide after every kick for 1 or 2 seconds. This will give you move distance.|||long pull outs

finish your kick (snap your legs together)

hold the water well

focus on going forwards, not up

glide

quick turns

head down
