How do you do a backstroke to breaststroke transition turn?

Do you have to do a tumble turn?

Because if you don't, will you get disqualified?

I heard you could just touch the wall on your back and just turn and do breaststroke (no need for tumble turns)

but I'm doing this in an official race so I wasn't sure how to turn

Thanks in advance!!!!|||You heard right! When you are doing a backstroke to breastroke turn, you hold one arm out to touch the wall. When you touch the wall, you quickly flip over, push off the wall, and do breastroke. You will not get disqualified.|||Well as a swimmer myself. It is very true you can do that without getting disqualified but if you are not very experienced with it dont risk it because it could effect your time very bad. You should practice it in training and when you are confident with it, starting using it in races :)|||dude to be honest with you what you are referring to ( flipping from on your back to on your stomach and doing breast) is a texas turn. down here in FL high school swimming it is ILLEGAL. it most likely is anywhere else so for now just play it safe and "touch and go"|||the legal way is to touch the wall on your back, turn, push off the wall , and just start doing breaststroke. good luck! :)
